Xi’an Cultural Tour

2016-12-24

In the Han Dynasty, the opening up of the Silk Road by Zhang Qian facilitated transcontinental trade among China and Western countries. Development of trade brought about influx of peoples, goods, cultures and religions to the city. Nowadays, Xi’an is not only “the ancient capital of ten dynasties”, but also an industrial and research centre of central and western China.

In order to increase students’ understanding of the history of the Silk Road, the Maritime Silk Road Society is going to organize a “Xi’an Cultural Tour” to visit the starting point of the Silk Road during Christmas on 24-27 December. The four-day trip will include: seminar related to “the Belt and Road Initiative”, viewing of Terracotta Army, visit to the Shaanxi Provincial Museum and aircraft museum, etc. Students will learn more about the history of Xi’an, its latest development in aerospace technology and strategic position under “the Belt and Road Initiative”.
