2017-05-11

The Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) and the Federation of HK Guangxi Community Organisations, co-organized the Joint Business Delegation to Guangxi to visit various economic zones and industrial areas from 9 to 12 May 2017.

Led by Mrs Regina Ip, Co-chair of MSRS, and Mr Karson Choi, Chairman of Federation of HK Guangxi Community Organisations, the 37-member delegation consisted of office-bearers and members from both organizations as well as individuals from the business sector. The delegation met with government officials and visited several development zones and industrial parks in Nanning, Fangchenggang and Qinzhou in order to gain insight into the local investment environment.

Mrs Regina Ip said, “I am very thankful to the leaders of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for their efforts in making such meaningful programme that enhances our understanding of the investment climate as well as emerging industries in the region. I am also excited to have the opportunity to meet with Mr Peng Qinghua, Secretary of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee who briefed us on the latest development of the region. I am confident that this joint visit will further strengthen collaborations between Guangxi and Hong Kong in areas of industry, trade, culture and tourism under the 'Belt and Road' strategy.”

Mrs Ip added, “Last but not least, our Society would like to express our gratitude to Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region for offering a variety of places for Hong Kong university students taking part in 'Operation Zhang Qian — Undergraduate Summer Internship Programme 2017'. I understand that some jobs are related to ASEAN vocational education projects. Such opportunities will no doubt enhance our students' understanding of ASEAN.”

“I am delighted also to have the opportunity to attend the opening ceremony of the HKSARG Guangxi Liaison Unit in Nanning. Prior to that, the HKSARG had five offices and 10 liaison units in the Mainland. This visit has deepened the exchange and collaboration between Hong Kong and Guangxi in trade, manufacturing, investment, culture and other fields.
