Guangxi Delegation Met with Mrs Regina Ip in Breakfast Meeting

Mr Huang Weijing, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region led a delegation to Hong Kong on 12-15 September to take part in the 8th Edition of Belt and Road Summit. Mr Huang and the delegates met with Mrs Regina Ip, Co-Chair of the Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) on 15 September in a breakfast meeting. He informed Mrs Ip of the latest development of Guangxi, recent collaboration between Guangxi and Hong Kong and suggested measures to deepen collaboration in areas such as trade and commerce, youth exchange and culture and tourism.
During the meeting, Mrs Ip welcomed the visit of the delegation. She mentioned that MSRS and the Federation of HK Guangxi Community Organisations, co-organized a joint business delegation to Guangxi in May 2017. The delegation visited development zones and industrial parks in Nanning, Fangchenggang and Qinzhou to gain insight into the local investment environment. Mrs Ip took the opportunity to thank Mr Huang for Guangxi’s support in MSRS’ annual “Operation Zhang Qian — Undergraduate Summer Internship Programme” by providing internship places to Hong Kong undergraduates. She also updated Mr Huang about Hong Kong’s efforts in the commercial, economic and social sectors to recover from the COVID pandemic.
In conclusion, both parties expressed wishes for closer cooperation to promote the Belt and Road Initiative while enhancing opportunities for the trade and commerce sector and the young people.
