2024-02-27

On 27 February, the Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) organized the “Hong Kong History Exploration: CLP Pulse Guided Tour”. Participants included Ms Eunice Yung, LegCo Member and Vice-Chair of the Youth Opportunities Committee (YOC), MSRS; Mr Wong Yam Yin, Chairman of Golden Wheel Group and President of Board of Honorary Advisory Governors, MSRS; Mr Suen Kwok Lam, the representative of Dr Peter Lee Ka-kit, Chairman of Henderson Land Group and Chair of YOC, MSRS; and MSRS members. Ms Quince Chong, Chief Corporate Development Officer of CLP Power, was the host of the tour.

Built in 1940, CLP clock tower building served as the CLP headquarters until 2012 and rated as Grade I historic building in 2018. It was then revitalized as CLP Pulse, showcasing the history of electricity development in Hong Kong, the Kadoorie Family, and ways to adopt zero-carbon energy. The delegation started the guided tour by visiting the “Our Home · Our History” exhibition to learn about the story of the Kadoorie Family and their contribution to the society. The next exhibition visited was ElectriCity “Traces of Human Touch” organized by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office, where participants appreciated multiple local carving techniques. The delegation then recalled their memories when appreciating the artefacts, miniatures and displays of the past of Hong Kong at the “Powering to Transform” exhibition and had an immersive experience to explore the impact of climate change and the navigation of zero-carbon future.

Towards the end of the tour, Mr K Y Lo, Director – Corporate Affairs (External Relations) of CLP Power, gave a presentation to introduce the work of CLP Power, including its business development, operation performance, community projects and carbon neutrality plan.
