Mrs Regina Ip Officiated at the Meeting to Commemorate China’s Victory over Japanese Aggression and Fascism

At the invitation of the Federation of Overseas Chinese and people of Fujian origin, Mrs Regina Ip, Convenor of the Executive Council, LegCo Member and Co-Chair of the Maritime Silk Road Society officiated at the Meeting Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Those officiating at the opening ceremony also included Mr Chris Sun, Secretary for Labour and Welfare; representatives from the Hong Kong Garrison and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Mr Wong Kyin Pyu, Principal President of Hong Kong Myanmar-Chinese Friendship Association; and Mr Terence Wong, Chairman of Hong Kong Myanmar-Chinese Friendship Association, etc.
Speaking at the conference, Mrs Regina Ip hoped that the Chinese would remember the lessons of history and promote patriotism through various means. She also mentioned that the military parade held in Beijing on 3 September became a focus of international discussion because it showcased the achievements of China's national defense modernization and caused shock and repercussions in the international military community.
