“Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums” Guided Tour and Lunch Gathering

On 15 August, Maritime Silk Road Society (MSRS) organized a guided tour for “Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums”. Dr Peter Wong, Secretary of Hong Kong Public Archaeological Society, was the star docent to introduced to visitors the time-honored history, culture and artefacts of Egypt.
The Exhibition is jointly organized by the Hong Kong Palace Museum and the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt, featuring 250 spectacular treasures from seven major Egyptian museums and the Saqqara archaeological site. Organized into four thematic sections, “The Land of Pharaohs”, “The World of Tutankhamun”, “The Secrets of Saqqara”, and “Ancient Egypt and the World”, the exhibition traces the development of ancient Egyptian civilization spanning nearly 5,000 years. The exhibition also unveils the latest archaeological discoveries from Saqqara and the vibrant exchanges between Ancient Egypt and other world civilizations.
The event also included the exhibition “Treasures of Global Jewellery from The Metropolitan Museum of Art: The Body Transformed”. Featuring approximately 200 masterpieces from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, all organized in five thematic sections. The exhibition traces the development of adornments from ancient civilizations to cutting-edge contemporary creations. With Dr Wong’s fascinating explanations, each exhibit's unique history is vividly presented, allowing visitors to appreciate its charm and gain a deeper understanding of the stories behind.
