Statement:Maritime Silk Road Society Welcomes Full Resumption of Normal Travel between Hong Kong and Mainland

The Maritime Silk Road Society welcomes and supports the government's announcement that starting from today (6 February), Hong Kong and the Mainland resume normal travel, open all ports, set no limit on the number of people passing through customs, and cancel pre-departure nucleic acid requirement, etc.

In the past, in order to control and stabilize the COVID-19 epidemic, Hong Kong and the Mainland adopted entry and exit epidemic prevention measures, which hindered the life and work of people in the two places, and even influenced economic activities and development in the business sectors such as tourism and retail. Until the beginning of this year, considering the easing of the epidemic, the government began to implement a phased and orderly restoration of traveller clearance from 8 January, making a scientific, reasonable and safe decision to resume traveller clearance. The Government officially announced last Friday (3 February) that normal traveller clearance will be resumed from today, which means that Hong Kong will gradually return to its normal life before the epidemic.
