Internship life with mainlanders

This internship is more than just working outside Hong Kong, it also provides the opportunity to know and learn more about the lives in a foreign place.
I am honored to have the chance to co-live with other mainland interns from the same company. Within the 6 weeks, we spent a lot of time together working, living and most importantly, exchanging our thoughts. They came from different parts of China, and through telling me about their homelands, I got to know more the beauties and uniqueness of different cities of China. China is vaster than I knew, every single one of her cities are filled with their own local cultures, food or even practices, my country is made up of many small gorgeous places. Other than that, we have also shared our thoughts and views on various matters, like our futures, works etc. I can feel that there is strong bond already building up among us. It is an utterly precious occasion that we can exchange thoughts without prejudgments or prejudice, just doing it for the sake of knowing the country more in different aspects.
Meanwhile, my colleagues were so kind that they brought us along to a road trip during weekend. We went to CongHua to have water drifting and hot spring. During that trip, I got to know more about thoughts from different generations, not only from interns. We had a great night when we barbequed and had beer, we talked about lives, works, families. It was a night to remember as it broke the stereotypes of Chinese people in many of our minds. Things are not the same when we reveal the underneath, many of us may have a mold of what China or Chinese people should be, but after getting to know about them deep inside, they are not the same as what we thought.
Despite the culture or even wording difference, we are same difference. It may be hard to adapt to the mainland cultures of drinking or the distinct social ladder, it would be the same if we worked or lived elsewhere, we just have to adapt to the local practices, so as to experience the life there to the fullest.
We just have to open up ourselves to the group of people whom we share the same ancestors, knowing them in an open mind, and accept the differences and learn the goods in them. After all, we are all Chinese.
