Hong Kong, Beijing and Bangkok

In my first week in Beijing, I was assigned to International Finance Institute of Bank of China for training sessions. It was a priceless experience for me as I could have a chance to know more about the strategies of BOC under the world’s dynamic economic condition. In between all the training sessions, I found the lesson about financial technology the most fascinating. The lecturer talked about how BOC used different kinds of technology to bring convenience to the customers while avoiding potential risks.

In the second week, I stayed in Hong Kong and went to Bank of China Centre to continue my training sessions. I found that the session about banking operations very interesting. I learned that money and cost were the first priority when a bank tries to set branches in another country. However, talents and the local government regulations are also vital factors that we have to consider.

In the following weeks, I went to Thailand and worked in Bank of China (Thai) Public Company Limited. I worked in the Loan Administration Department under Risk Management. I also worked in the credit risk department, being responsible for preparing credit risk proposals for the clients. In this job, I had to evaluate credit risk by analyzing different kinds of indicators and government regulations, etc. At the very beginning, I thought that only looking at the amount of profit will be enough to determine the level of risk. However after this internship, I understood that actually there are many other kinds of indicators and factors that affect deeply on level of risk of the company.
