It was a memorable experience that I had an opportunity to visit three different production plants managed by the General Manager of Asphalt, Bricks & Cement. She encouraged us to learn more through visiting.
The Asphalt Plant, a leading asphalt producer in Hong Kong contributed to several huge projects, including the Three Runway System project. The Manager in charge of K. Wah Asphalt shared a remarkable idea with me, “to think and build learning ability.” I reflected on myself, am I studying for a purpose? They truly inspired me a lot.
The Cement Plant in Tai Po, surprisingly, only around 20 people work there. I found out that the operation in the plant is fully automatic. The Depot Manager introduced us to the storage buckets and taught us how machines help in productivity.
The Block Plant located in the EcoPark works precast concrete blocks and paver by using recycling of glass and recycled aggregates from construction and demolition waste. In there, I witnessed that many people have been working hard for a better environment inconspicuously. I learnt to “try as much as you can to find your own way, you are not limited.”
I felt very honoured that I had an opportunity to meet them, they widened my insight and thinking. I want to express my gratitude to all of them, especially the General Manager. It was her idea to arrange those awesome staff in K. Wah to share with me.
